Spalding Rotary was originally founded in 1937 and is part of District 1070 of R.I.B.I.
 
     
   
FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE PRESENT DAY - SPALDING ROTARY.
 
The Rotary Club of Spalding is just one of over 31, 000 Rotary Clubs worldwide. Rotary International has 1.2 million members in 166 countries; all committed to one ideal – Service Above Self.

The object of Rotary.

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:-
  • The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.
  • High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
  • The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life.
  • The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
Meetings.     
Meetings are held every Monday when we enjoy lunch together and keep ourselves up to date on the many projects being carried out by the Club and its members.

A fifth Monday in the month results in and evening meeting.

The meetings are chaired by the President and members responsible for cash desk duties and speaker are as set out in the members handbook.
      
District Conference.     
An annual conference takes place in September or October at which the clubs in district 1070 meet for business and social activities.

The conference commences Friday afternoon and ends Sunday morning. The recent venues have been Torquay, Brighton and Harrogate.
      
Cadas Fund.
Is a capitol sum of £2000 which has been accumulated by bequests etc. from deceased Rotarians, the income from which is used to promote and support projects relating to local young people.
      
Paul Harris Awards.
For every 1,000 US Dollars donated to the Rotary Foundation, the club is permitted to give a Paul Harris Award to an individual for outstanding service to the local community or own club.
